Performance and Mark Making

This six hour workshop provided participants with the opportunity to experiment mark-making through performative processes and collaboration. It consisted of ten exercises that were based on M.Lohrum’s creative process, which explores the relation between drawing and performance, and the importance of the body, gesture and movement in both art practices. The artist set a number of rules for every exercise, but these rules largely allowed improvisation and accident. Participants worked in pairs for some exercises and as a whole group in others.

The workshop was held at Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Portugal (2019). Participants were art students of University of Évora.
