'Crunch Time' is a series of photographs and works on paper derived from performative drawings. The global pandemic situation of 2020 forced M.Lohrum to termorarily leave London and to move back to her home town in the Canary Islands. The title of the series alludes to the artist's need to develop and find new ways of producing work and exhibiting it. Charcoal sticks were displayed on a piece of paper in the shape of a crack, that the artists then crunched by stepping on them. This action was repeated from side to side until charcoal was almost reduced to powder. The resulting images are a trace of the performance, but they also recall visually a volcanic landscape. The title of the series, the initial crack shape and the crunching action echo each other.
